No.
You can start driving lessons before doing your theory test. However, you will need to pass a theory test before booking your practical driving test so we recommend at least studying your theory whilst taking lessons. We are happy to help with theory test preparation. Just ask.
Yes.
You must have a valid provisional licence and be at least 17 years old before you are allowed to take driving lessons. You can apply for the licence when you are 15 years and 9 months old but will have to be 17 to start driving. Your instructor will ask to see your licence when you first meet.
You must be able to read a vehicle number plate from at least 20 meters. It's fine to do this wearing glasses or contact lenses as long as you then wear them whilst driving. Your instructor will do an eyesight check when you first meet.
As you have probably guessed, there is no accurate way we can answer this question because everybody is different. The official DVSA guide recommends a minimum of 45 hours tuition. However, this is just a guide. Many people require far less and some need more.
Absolutely.
Being nervous is perfectly natural and quite common in learner drivers. Remember, your instructor was a learner who took his/her first driving lesson once! We understand that behind the wheel is an individual personality. We will tailor our teaching style to best suit your individual needs. We will talk with you, not at you. Most of all we will listen. We feel that it's very important to build a good rapport between pupil and instructor and pride ourselves on doing just that.
Absolutely. We don't just teach learners to drive. We undertake all kinds of driver training for licence holders and learners alike.
